Desmond Wang named ACAC Athlete of the Week
Each athlete is allowed to compete in two events in each ACAC badminton tournament and Desmond Wang captured two first place finishes in the opening tournament of the year hosted at Kings University to earn the ACAC Athlete of the Week award.
The 2nd year Bachelor of Science major won men’s doubles 21-12, 21-19 in the finals with his partner Braxton Wong. In mixed doubles he paired up with his sister Takeisha Wang and won the finals 21-15, 21-12. Desmond did not lose a single game/match all weekend.
The CCAA defending singles national champion got his 2nd season off to a great start as he was the only male in the tournament to get two first place finishes.
We look forward to watching Desmond and the Thunder Badminton program continue their success throughout the year.
