Thunder Badminton Team Start the Season Strong at ACAC Tournament #1

EDMONTON, AB - NOVEMBER 19, 2018

The 2018-19 ACAC Badminton season kicked off Sunday afternoon as the Kings University Eagle's hosted the first ACAC tournament. The Thunder badminton team is looking promising this year as they had strong performances in all categories. 

In the women's singles division, the CCAA defending national champion Takeisha Wang, continued her success from last season as she went undefeated and captured 1st place by defeating Bea Bernardo of NAIT 21-13, 21-12. 

In men's singles, Thunder's Braxton Wong was able to win the consolation match against John Li of NAIT  19-21, 21-19, 21-19 finishing in 3rd place. Braxton also paired up with defending CCAA men's singles champion, Desmond Wang, to compete in the doubles division where they would capture the 1st place title defeating Jeffery Ko and Ronuelle Mendina of NAIT 21-12, 21-16.

Kaylee Morris and Kassidy Turcotte paired up in the women's doubles division where they were able to crack the top 3 as they defeated Angelica Alberta and Chanel Simrose of Kings 23-21, 21-15 in their consolation match. 

Finally, the dynamic sibling duo of defending national champions Takeisha and Desmond Wang joined forces in the mixed doubles division where they would go undefeated winning the championship match 21-14, 21-12 over NAIT's Jeffery Ko and Eyota Kwan.
