CCAA National Golf Championships 2018-19

EDMONTON, AB - OCT 22, 2018

On Friday October 19th the Thunder golf team wrapped up their season at the CCAA National Championships in Medicine Hat, AB. After having a great ACAC season, the Thunder golf team was ready to take on the best in the country at nationals.

The level of competition in the field was incredible. On the women's side, the Red Deer Queens (ACAC) claimed the championship title shooting +49 for the tournament. The Thunder team consisting of Kassidy and Kennedy Turcotte finished in 7th place shooting a combined +125 on the week. Individually, Emily Romancrew of the John Abbott Islanders (RSEQ) shot an outstanding +10 on the week to win the women's championship. Kassidy Turcotte had a great week shooting +56 finishing in 14th and her sister Kennedy Turcotte, who made her CCAA National Championship debut, finished T19th (+69).

On the men's side, Boomerang d'Andre-Laurendeau (RSEQ) won the team title shooting an amazing combined score of -14 for the week. The Thunder men's team had a combined score of +147 and would finish in 11th. Individually, Laurent Desmatchais dominated the field by shooting -13 for the tournament title. Nicolas Pittman led the way for the Thunder shooting +14 leaving him tied for 26th. Behind Nicolas on the Thunder men's team was Dylan Brown (+40), Michael Lastiwka (+45), Connor Beeston (+50), and Ryley Gaudet (+73).
