Strong Start for the Thunder at Opening Regional

Lac La Biche, AB - September 15, 2018

On Saturday morning the ACAC golf season was underway at Lac La Biche Golf and Country Club for the first Regional Tournament. Despite the difficult playing conditions, golfers had to battle through snow, rain, and high winds all day to make this already difficult course even more challenging. 

On the men's side for the Thunder, Connor Beeston had a terrific day shooting 74 (+2) leaving him with the tournament lead after Day 1. Nicolas Pittman finished tied for 9th shooting +11 on the day and Michael Lastiwka finished in 16th shooting +14. The men's team is currently sitting in 2nd place with a total score of +45.

Kassidy Turcotte had a solid opening round for the women's team landing her in 6th place and her younger sister, Kennedy Turcotte who is playing in her first ACAC event, finished the day in 8th place. The women's team is currently in 2nd place with a total score of +44. 

Round two will resume tomorrow morning at 10:10AM and harsh weather conditions are expected throughout the day.
