Bio

Coach Petryk returned to Concordia after previously coaching the Thunder golf program in 2004, 2005, 2013 and working as an assistant coach last year during one of the most successful seasons the golf program has had to date. In addition to coaching at the collegiate level, Larry was the Head Teaching Golf Professional at the Macau Golf and Country Club in China (2006-2012), the EGMGCC (2014-2015), and Raven Crest Golf Club (2016-Present). During his professional career, Larry has competed on the PGA Tour of Canada (1999-2000),  at the Macau Open (Asian Tour 2008-2012), and currently on the Professional Golfers Association of Alberta & Canada. Some of Petryk’s notable victories include an Edmonton City Championship, Canadian Championship, Fort Saskatchewan Pro-Am (2013) and most recently the PGA of Alberta Event (2017).

Coach Petryk is eager to get the Thunder golf team back on the course after a tremendous season where they claimed two silver medals and two bronze medals at the ACAC conference championships along with qualifying both the men’s and women’s teams to the CCAA National Championships. Petryk has been a golf professional since 1994 and has been a PGA of Canada Member since 2014. He takes great pride in teaching the sport he loves to competitive students and the greater Edmonton community. Petryk holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Alberta (1989-92) and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of San Diego (1992-94). During his time in San Diego, Petryk competed in the NCAA Division 1 West Coast Conference where he was selected to the NCAA All-Conference Team and received MVP recognition from the University of San Diego Golf Team.
