Thunderous Victory: Concordia Shines Bright in Win Over Lakeland College

(EDMONTON, AB) In a high-octane clash at Ralph King Athletic Centre, the Concordia Thunder Men's Basketball Team triumphed over Lakeland College with a final score of 98-87. The game was marked by intense offensive plays and stellar defensive maneuvers.

In the first quarter, Lakeland College took an early lead, but Concordia quickly bounced back in the second quarter, with players like Nick Gibb (#10) and Kyler Dutka (#18) leading the charge. Gibb's three-point shooting and Dutka's dominance in rebounds and points paved the way for Concordia's resurgence.

The third quarter proved to be a turning point for the Thunder, as they mounted a remarkable offensive assault. O'Ryan Wallace (#13) showcased his scoring prowess, sinking crucial three-pointers, while Yaadvir Dhaliwal (#7) exhibited excellent defensive skills, tallying up steals and assists. Concordia's intensified defensive efforts in the third quarter limited Lakeland's scoring opportunities, allowing them to take control of the game.

As the final quarter unfolded, Concordia maintained their composure under pressure. Despite Lakeland College's late-game push, Concordia's tenacious defense and strategic play-calling secured their victory, delighting the home crowd. After the game, head coach Reagan Wood commented "Great win tonight for us against a tough Lakeland team. They put a lot of pressure on you and we had to work through them making runs. We had a nice balance in our scoring, which always helps. Overall, I'm happy that we were able to pull this one out"

The One Team Sport Players of the game are #13 Abdul Al-Tamini from Lakeland and #18 Kyler Dutka from Concordia. The Thunder are back on home court next weekend to take on the NAIT Ooks on Friday, October 20th at 8 PM.
