Thudner v. Wolves needed 5 sets

EDMONTON AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) hosted the visiting Grand Prairie Regional College (GPRC) in the first game of 2019. The boys must have been well rested as it was a back and forth affair.

The Thunder took a commanding lead in the first set, but it was quickly taken away as the Wolves went on a run to give them a fighting chance. The Thunder ultimately ended with the first set win by a score of 25-22, thanks to fantastic serving by #17 Keenan Forstey.

The second set was also a back and forth match, both teams taking their turn of the lead, the Wolves took the first lead for most of the match, but the Thunder kept pushing and tied it up at 18, pushed the Wolves to extra points and lost 26-24.

The Wolves started off the 3rd with a 9-3 lead and the Thunder fought back and went up 15-13. There seems to be a theme in these matches, both teams were very evenly matched and these sets could have gone either way, the Thunder took the 3rd and went up 2 sets to 1. The Wolves took the 4th and 5th set for the win, after a back and forth tight match.

The Thunder and the Wolves will face off against each other again tomorrow.
