Thunder's Fight Falls Short: Concordia's Fierce Battle Ends in Narrow Defeat Against Keyano College

In a heart-pounding matchup at the Ralph King Athletic Centre, Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) went up against Keyano College for a second time at home this weekend. Based on the game from the previous night, this matchup promised to be a tight competition, and it certainly delivered.

Much like the previous night, the game began as a back-and-forth affair, with neither team pulling away. By halftime, the Huskies managed to hold a 1 point lead over the Thunder. Concordia's defense, led by players like Hannah Mitchell (#5), intensified in the second half, grabbing crucial rebounds and challenging Keyano's shots. This allowed the Thunder to take a 3 point lead by the end of the third quarter. Despite Concordia's comeback, Keyano's composure down the stretch and clutch fourth quarter shooting secured their victory. The game concluded with Keyano College narrowly edging out CUE with a final score of 57-54.

Notable performances included Thunder's Rachel Harvey (#11), who led the scoring with 22 points, and Jenna Rinsky (#6), who's clutch shooting from beyond the arc kept her team in the game. Huskies guard Kaylynn Tucker (#22) and her inside presence were pivotal, contributing significantly to her team's success with 20 points and 7 rebounds.

In their next home game, CUE's women's basketball team will face off against St. Mary's University at Ralph King Athletic Centre on Friday November 3rd. With this game's result, Concordia's current record stands at 2-4.
