Season opener - Vikings v. Thunder, Thunder fall 3-0

EDMONTON AB - In the first game of the regular season the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder, took on the visiting University of Alberta - Agustana (UAA) Vikings. The scoreboard may have indicated an easy victory for the Vikings, but the sets were close in points and could have gone either way. The Vikings took the game 3 sets to 0, winning 25-15, 25-18 and 25-13.

In the first set the Vikings had 9 kills that helped them push past the Thunder. Although the Thunder had a game high 10 kills in the second, it wasn't enough to tie it up and push it to extra sets.

The Thunder and the Vikings will meet again tomorrow night to even the score and come out of the series tied up at 1.

The Big Kahuna Player of the Game for the Augustana Vikings was #4 Rebecca Petrie, who had a team high 8 kills, and for the CUE Thunder, #9 Tianna Smith lead her team with 8 kills and 5 digs to award her, her first player of the game of the season.
