EDMONTON AB – In their back-to-back series, the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) took on the visiting Grand Prairie Regional College (GPRC) and ended with a split series, as the GPRC Wolves defeated the CUE Thunder in the Saturday matchup, 3-0.
The Wolves came out hot winning the first two sets. The first set could have easily gone the other way, as the final score was 25-23. The second set the Wolves took a commanding lead, and although the Thunder had a last minute push, they ended up falling 25-19. The Thunder answered back by winning the 3rd set to push it to 4, but the Wolves shut the door on the comeback and won the 4th set 25-22.
The Big Kahuna Player of the Game for the Thunder was #14 Tanielle Yacey, and for the Wolves #10 Karly Burkinshaw. The Thunder will be taking on the first place Lakeland Rustlers in their next week matchup, and the Wolves will be up against the Augustana Vikings.
