First place Rustlers take down Thunder, but not without a fight!

EDMONTON AB – In tonight's matchup the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) faced off against the visiting Lakeland Rustlers in their second matchup in this weekends series. The Rustlers were dominant and took down the Thunder in 4 games.

The Thunder came out pretty strong in the first, but it was the Rustlers who took the W. They came up big and capitalized on missed kills by the Thunder and finished the first set 25-19. Which was a much better performance by the Thunder than in the second set. The Rustlers ran away with a 25-9 victory. The Thunder found their stride in the 3rd and put a stop to the Rustlers and pushed the series to a 4th set. The 4th set was back and forth action tying at 21 a piece and the Rustlers eventually pulled away and defeated the Thunder 25-22.

With this win, Lakeland has solidified their top stop in the North Division with 26 points, 4 points ahead of the second place King's College. The Big Kahuna Player of the Game for the Rustlers was #5 Rae Sigurdson and for the Thunder was #5 Anika Bessette. A win for the Thunder would have put them 2 points away from a 3-way tie with Keyano and Grand Prairie. Next weekend the Thunder will take on the Kings College and the Rustlers will face off against Keyano Huskies.
