Thunder falls to Eagles in 3 sets

EDMONTON AB – In this special Alumni event the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder faced off tonight against the visiting Kings University Eagles. A win for the Kings meant a share of the top spot, tying the Lakeland Rustlers at 28 points a piece and extended their winning streak to 5 games. The Thunder are looking to improve their record and grab a playoff spot to extend their season.

The Eagles came out strong and took an early lead of 15-1, but the Thunder fought back and ended the set 25-15. The second set the Thunder put up a fight and finally caught their stride, the Eagles might have walked away with the set win, but the Thunder fought hard and were able to grab 22 points against the Eagles. The Eagles defeated the Thunder in the 3rd set, giving them the win.

The Eagles and the Thunder will face off again tomorrow night in their weekend series. The Thunder will be looking to redeem themselves and end the weekend with a series split. The Big Kahuna Player of the Game for the visiting Eagles was #9 Avery Theune and for the Thunder #9 Tianna Smith.
