Vikings take down the Thunder in 3 sets

EDMONTON AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder took on the visiting Augustana Vikings to finish off their weekend series. The Thunder were looking for a redemption match after last nights' loss, but unfortunately came up short with a Vikings win of 3 sets to 0.

The first frame opened up in a tense back and forth battle, that resulted in a Vikings in. Both teams struggled with their serves and the Vikings were able to edge the Thunder by 2 points by a score of 26-24. The second set had a very similar story, the lead was exchanged a few times, the in the last couple points of the set, the Vikings capitalized on some big points and was able to topple the Thunder 25-20. The pattern seemed to be consistent in these matches, evenly matched until the bitter end when the Vikings pulled away. The 3^rd and final set was won 25-23 to close off the weekend series.

The Vikings have solidified their playoff spot with 26 points and will be facing off against The Kings University on February 8^th. The Thunder will be taking on the NAIT Ooks next weekend to continue their playoff hope. The Big Kahuna Player of the Game for the Vikings #12 Payton Bouvier who lead the game in kills with 13. The Player of the Game for the home team Thunder was #4 Emma Derbyshire with a game high 32 assists.
