Thunder fall to Ooks in home opener

EDMONTON AB – In this years season opener, the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder, took on the visiting NAIT Ooks. In this hard fought match, the Ooks walked away victorious winning 3 sets to 0.

The Ooks and Thunder were head to head in the first set, switching the lead a few times and the Ooks squeezed out a 25-22. At times it seemed as though the Thunder were going to pull ahead and complete their first set comeback, but the Ooks got the valuable last points and took the momentum away before they had a chance.

The last two sets were won by the Ooks and although at times the Thunder would finish with a huge kill or a big dig, the game went to the Ooks. Winning the second set 25-19 and the third set 25-18.

The two teams will face off again tomorrow night at NAIT and finish off their first home-at-home match up. The Big Kahuna Players Of the Game for the visiting Ooks was #3 Emma Norenberg and for the Thunder #9 Tianna Smith.
