Concordia Thunder Dominates NAIT Ooks in Saturday Showdown

(EDMONTON, AB) On Sunday at Ralph King Athletic Centre, the Concordia Thunder women's volleyball team got their first win of the young season, defeating the NAIT Ooks in three straight sets. The Thunder secured the win with set scores of 25-23, 25-15, and 25-18.

From the first serve, the Thunder dominated the court, setting the pace for the match. Zanzi Brook (#14) emerged as a standout player, showcasing remarkable hitting and defensive abilities. Her strategic attacks (4) and blocks (2) kept the NAIT Ooks on their toes throughout the game. Concordia's offense, orchestrated by players like Jolene Cooke (#6) and Kara McIntyre (#13), delivered precise kills, and well-placed spikes, overwhelming the opposition.

Concordia's setter, Jenna May (#10), displayed excellent decision-making and ensured a seamless flow of attacks, leading the team with 22 assists. Despite NAIT's efforts, Concordia's cohesive gameplay and relentless attack made it a challenging contest for the visitors.

The One Team Sport players of the game, presented by Co-operators, were #6 Charlotte Vandenelzen for NAIT and #14 Zanzi Brook for Concordia.

With the win, the Thunder's finish the weekend series going 1-1 vs. the Ooks. The Thunder will be back at home on Saturday November 4th as they take on the SAIT Trojans at 6pm.
