Concordia Thunder Women's Volleyball Fall Short Against SAIT in Four Sets

(EDMONTON, AB) On Saturday evening at Ralph King Athletic Centre, the Concordia Thunder Women's Volleyball team battled against the SAIT Trojans. The evening was highlighted by the ninth annual "Make Some Noise for Mental Health" night sponsored by RBC. The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) has partnered up with the Royal Bank of Canada in the annual Make Some Noise for Mental Health campaign to promote mental health awareness and reduce the stigma associated with mental health concerns. There are 17 member institutions participating in this campaign, spread among two divisions, under one conference.

The Thunder started strong, claiming the first set with a score of 25-16. Kara McIntyre's powerful spikes and Jenna May's precise sets contributed significantly to the Thunder's early lead. However, the Trojans countered with resilience, winning the next three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-21. LeeAnne Arnott and Shadae Black of SAIT displayed exceptional attacking skills, overwhelming the Thunder's defense.

Throughout the match, Concordia fought hard, keeping sets close. Emma Thompson's impressive 11 kills and Jenna May's 16 assists kept the team in the game, but SAIT's strong attack proved challenging to overcome. Despite Concordia's efforts, SAIT emerged victorious, claiming the match with a final score of 3-1.

The Concordia Thunder Women's Volleyball team will face The King's University in their next home game on November 24th. After this game, the Thunder's current record stands at 3-5.
