Concordia Thunder Edged Out by The King's University Eagles in Three Sets

(EDMONTON, AB) In a challenging women's volleyball match hosted at Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE), the Thunder faced a tough test against The King's University as the Eagles secured a 3-0 victory.

The opening set saw The King's University setting the tone with a 25-19 win. Brooke Risselada demonstrated her offensive prowess, contributing significantly to the early lead with kills (2), digs (3), a block (1), and a service ace (1) in the first set. Despite Concordia's efforts, The King's University maintained control. The second set continued in a similar fashion, with The King's University securing a 25-16 victory. Emma Scheerle played a key role for the Eagles, showcasing serving skills with 4 service aces. The third and final set saw The King's University sealing the win with a 25-14 score. The Thunder fought hard, with Jolene Cooke leading the offensive charge with 13 kills in the game, but the Eagles solid blocking and serving proved to be a tough task. Other notable performances from the Thunder were Renae Regal (#2) leading the team with 21 assists in the match, as well as Tanisha Cronin (#9) leading the team with 3 blocks.

CUE Women's Volleyball now heads over to The King's University to play their final game tomorrow night before heading into the winter break. The Thunder remain focused and determined to bounce back after the loss. Their next home game will be in the new year, as they take on the Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Friday January 12th, 2024.
