Straight-Set Success: Concordia Shines in Volleyball Clash with Lethbridge

(EDMONTON, AB) Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) dominated Lethbridge College in a straight-set victory to kick of the second half of the season. The home team displayed an impressive performance, securing the win with set scores of 25-23, 25-15, and 25-10.

From the opening set, Concordia set the tone with a dynamic offensive and defensive display. Renae Regal, CUE's setter, orchestrated the offense efficiently with 26 assists, distributing the ball effectively to her teammates. Jolene Cooke stood out with a remarkable all-around performance, contributing five kills, three aces, and two blocks. Emma Thompson and Kara McIntyre displayed their offensive prowess with seven kills each, adding depth to the team's attack.

The Thunder's solid blocking and serving played a crucial role in securing the victory. The group combined for 12 services aces, keeping the Kodiaks on the defensive all night. Defensively, Justine May and Emma Thompson led the team with 11 digs each, providing stability in the backcourt.

Lethbridge College faced challenges in containing Concordia's offensive firepower. Abby Sauder led the Kodiaks with nine kills, but the team struggled to find an answer to the Thunder's well-rounded performance. Concordia's dominance continued in the subsequent sets, ultimately securing the straight-set victory.

Thunder Women's Volleyball will be back at it again right away as they take on the Ambrose University Lions at Ralph King Athletic Centre tomorrow, January 13th. With this victory, the Thunder improve to a 4-8 record for the season.
