Strong home-opener for Concordia as they faced visiting Keyano

Edmonton, AB – It was an exciting home opener for the Concordia Thunder as the wind, rain and snow came down for most of the first half and eased up leading into the second. The Thunder were looking to extend their winning streak to 2 games and work their way towards the top 10 National Ranking list. Keyano was looking for their first win of the season. The Concordia faithful stood in the rain cheering on the home team until the Thunder walked away victorious with a final score of 7-0,

Concordia found the back of the net twice, but it wasn't until late in the first half where the initial lead was taken. Both teams had a difficult time finding their footing in the first half, walking off the field covered in mud and bruises to the locker room to get ready for round two. In the second half Concordia's execution rose to a new level and they established a significant lead around the 60-minute mark.

Notable performances were Concordia's #14 Rebecca Leavell who walked off the field with a team high 3 goals and 8 shot attempts and Keyano's player of the game #5 Kennedy Bates.

Concordia will go on the face the undefeated NAIT on Saturday September 22nd and Keyano will be facing Grand Prairie on Saturday September 29th.
