Thunder Triumph Over Voyageurs

Thunder Triumph Over Voyageurs

(EDMONTON, AB) – The Concordia Thunder women's soccer team showcased a commanding performance against the Portage Voyageurs, securing a remarkable 10-0 victory. The game witnessed a flurry of goals from Concordia, highlighting their formidable teamwork and attacking prowess.

Concordia's Caylie Rich opened the scoring just three minutes into the game, setting the tone for their dominant performance. The team continued to find the back of the net with precision, as Brooke Loewen, Abigael Burton, Vanessa Pietramala, and others contributed to the goal tally. Concordia displayed remarkable teamwork, with Pietramala providing four assists throughout the game.

Portage College's goalkeeper, Elizabeth McLeod, made 16 saves, but Concordia's relentless attack proved too much to handle. Madison Kempster, guarding Concordia's goal, made four crucial saves to preserve the clean sheet. Despite a spirited effort from both sides, Concordia University of Edmonton's women's soccer team left a lasting impression with their 10-goal triumph, underlining their dominance on the field.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #5 Karyl Cuesta from the Voyageurs' and the Thunder rookie, #17 Brooke Loewen. Loewen's scoring finesse and teamwork were instrumental in Concordia University of Edmonton's 10-goal victory, while Karyl Cuesta's defense thwarted multiple Thunder attacks. These two players stood out with their exceptional contributions, leaving an indelible mark on the match and providing vital support to their respective teams.

The Thunder will head to Fort McMurray next weekend to go up against the Keyano Huskies. Their next home game will be played at the Millwoods Turf, on October 6th at 4PM.
