NAIT Ooks vs. Concordia Thunder: Thunder's Late Surge Seals the Deal

(EDMONTON, AB) The Thunder went up against the NAIT Ooks on a sunny Saturday afternoon for the 3^rd time this season. In a hard-fought battle, Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder secured a 2-0 victory over the NAIT Ooks, with both goals coming in the second half of the match.

The game was evenly matched in the first half, with both teams struggling to break through the opposing defenses. NAIT managed to record 3 shots on goal, while Concordia had 5, but both goalkeepers, Toni Burse for NAIT and Monica Dickson for Concordia showcased their skills with several crucial saves.

In the second half we witnessed a change in momentum. Concordia's Vanessa Pietramala broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute with a well-placed shot, assisted by Brooke Lesoway. The NAIT Ooks were eager to mount a comeback, but Concordia's defense held strong. In the final minutes of the game, Breanna Callander of Concordia sealed the victory with a penalty shot goal, assisted by Vanessa Pietramala, making it 2-0.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #7 Ally Martineau for the Ooks and #8 Audrey French for the Thunder, both players with standout performances making some key plays to keep their team in the game.
