Thunder defeat Vikings in home opener

Thunder defeat Vikings in home opener

Camrose, AB - Drizzle turned to rain to open the 2018-19 ACAC Soccer season in Camrose, with a wet 3-0 Concordia Thunder victory over the Augustana Vikings. Over a hundred spectators braved the rain to enjoy ACAC soccer action, tunes from New Country 98.1 FM and tasty treats from Camrose's favorite food truck, Park n' Bite, at Augustana's Varsity Field.

Two Thunder goals were scored in the first half by fifth-year Bachelor of Arts student, Mas Arya. The Thunder goal in the second half was tallied by Rookie forward and Bachelor of Science Student, Nicolas Lampron.  Arya was awarded Player of the Game honours for the Concordia Thunder.

Augustana's Rookie Goalkeeper, David Lowe, put on a strong performance. "I thought we played well as a team, although we had a couple of breakdowns in our play," said Lowe. "We need to fix our mental game and stay focused for 90 minutes and if we can do that - we will show how we are capable of progressing in this league." Player of the Game for the Vikings went to veteran Defender, Johnny Johnson, a third-year Environmental Studies student from Castlegar, BC.
