Concordia Thunder Men's Soccer History

The Concordia Thunder men’s soccer program is one of the oldest programs at Concordia, beginning conference play in the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC) during 1993 season. First making the playoffs during the 2000 season, the men’s soccer program has only missed the playoffs three times since. Lead by CCAA All-Canadian Sinisa Matic, the Thunder captured their first ACAC Conference Championship in 2001 ultimately finishing fourth at the CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championships that season. The program has since won two more ACAC Conference Championships in 2003 and 2009, and captured the bronze medal at the 2009 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championships. The Concordia Thunder men’s soccer program has qualified for the ACAC Conference Championships 17 times, medaling a total of 10 times, and have made four trips to the CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championships. The program has produced 42 ACAC All-Conference Athletes, and four CCAA All Canadians: Sinisa Matic (2001-02), John Pino (2002-03), Kyle Bartkus (2007-08), and Samuel Lam (2010-11).Taking over just before the season, current Head Coach Hussein Shabdi lead the Thunder to tie their second best season in ACAC play in 2019.

Head Coaches: Rob Clements (1993-95), Darren Poole (1996-98), James Scozzafava (1999-00), Joe Feula (2001), Angelo Sestito (2002), Sasha Samadi (2003),
