Thunder victorious over the huskies in home opener

EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder (2-0-0) played host to
the visiting Keyano Huskies (0-3-1) on Saturday in their home opener. The Thunder came away
with a hard fought 2-0 win in wet conditions as rain poured down for most of the match.
The first half was an even back and forth affair with both teams managing shots on goal as they
adjusted to the rain. The Huskies held a slight edge by outshooting the Thunder 7-6, with
neither team scoring to take a 0-0 halftime score into the locker room.

In the second half, the Thunder began to find their form with a quick goal in the 58 th minute by
#8 Armaan Bhinder to take a 1-0 lead. Thunder's #7 Kenny Johnson added one more in the 65 th
minute to push the lead to 2-0 over the Huskies. Despite the solid effort by Huskies keeper #29
Jonathan Bruggeling to keep the game close, they just could not answer with a goal of their
own.

The Big Kahuna Sport Players of the Game for the visiting Keyano Huskies was #6 Neto Miguel
and for the CUE Thunder #7 Kenny Johnson.

The next match for the Thunder will be an away game on Saturday September 22 vs the NAIT
Ooks, while the next match for the Huskies will take place at home on Saturday September 29
vs the GPRC Wolves.
