Thunder Men’s Soccer Team Cruises to Win Over Wolves in Final Home Game of Season

Thunder Men’s Soccer Team Cruises to Win Over Wolves in Final Home Game of Season

EDMONTON, AB – The CUE Thunder Men's Soccer team (8-2-1) ended on a high note as they celebrated one of their graduating players on their final home game of the season against the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves (1-6-4).

5th year Thunder veteran goalkeeper Jordan Sosnov played in his 40th match wearing the blue and gold today as he finished in net to walk the team off the pitch with a victory. Sosnov will graduate with a Bachelor of Management degree at the end of the year.

The Thunder led a balanced attack in an effort to lock up the 2nd seed in the ACAC North division heading into conference championships next weekend. CUE striker #9 Ahmed Abubaker opened the scoring on a rocket of a shot in the 14th minute to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead in the tightly contested first half.

In the 2nd half, the Thunder wasted little time adding to their lead with Abubaker's 2nd goal of the game in the 59th minute, while teammate #10 Armaan Bhinder added the insurance marker in the 62nd minute to make the score 3-0. Despite a late rally from the Wolves, they could not solve the Thunder keeper duo of #1 Scott Hornbeck and #21 Jordan Sosnov who ensured the victory for the blue and gold.

The Kahunaverse Sport Group Players of the Game for the visiting GPRC Wolves was #3 Jared Perry and for the Thunder #4 Joshua Acevedo.

The Thunder will close out their regular season schedule tomorrow vs the NAIT Ooks, while the Wolves will end their season facing off vs the King's Eagles.
