Thunder Athletics Announce Partnership with SAS Volleyball

Edmonton, AB – Concordia Thunder Volleyball has partnered with the St. Albert/Sturgeon Volleyball Association (SAS Volleyball) to help develop future Thunder athletes in the Volleyball Alberta club system. Established in 2008, SAS Volleyball has grown to become one of the largest youth volleyball clubs in Alberta, serving St. Albert, Edmonton, and all communities in the greater-Edmonton area.
This partnership will allow Thunder Volleyball to better engage with the club youth development system and promote the Thunder brand throughout Alberta. It will also provide Thunder coaches and athletes opportunities to engage as role-models with club athletes and give back to the grassroots level of volleyball in Alberta.
“We are very excited to commence our partnership with Concordia Thunder Volleyball for the 2024-2025 club volleyball season. SAS has supported thousands of athletes through their club volleyball journey. Many of our athletes have gone on to play in the ACAC and with the Thunder. The shared branding and development opportunities will be of significant benefit to our athletes from U12-U18 and specifically to those who want to play post-secondary volleyball. SAS has several current Thunder Men’s and Women’s athletes that played club volleyball for SAS.” - Curtis Zilinski, President, SAS Volleyball
Director of Athletics & Wellness, Nate MacLellan, is mutually eager to launch the partnership, stating, “This is what it’s all about. Using the platform of sport to unite communities is something our Thunder Athletes take pride in. This partnership will allow our coaches and athletes to take on a leadership role and promote lifelong learning to the SAS Volleyball community. Welcome SAS Volleyball members! ”
The timing of this partnership could not be better as the Thunder Volleyball program is gearing up for the 2024-25 ACAC season, which will begin on October 25th, 2024.
