Bio

Nathaniel “Nate” MacLellan took over the Department of Athletics & Recreation at Concordia University of Edmonton on an interim basis in October 2021 where the Thunder went on to win a CCAA national championship and a department record 28 ACAC medals during the 2021-22 season. In May of 2022, MacLellan was officially named the permanent Director of Athletics & Recreation.

Originally from Welland, ON, MacLellan attended Brock University where he holds a Bachelor of Sport Management (Honours) degree and in 2023 received a Master's of Human Kinetics & Recreation degree from Memorial University.

Prior to transitioning into the Director role at Concordia, Nate moved to Edmonton, AB in 2014 to work at Concordia University of Edmonton in the Athletics & Recreation department taking on various roles such as the Game Day and Events Coordinator, Program and Sport Information Coordinator, and Student Experience Coordinator. During that time, he also spent 7 years working for Judo Alberta in a leadership role as the Executive Director.
