EDMONTON, AB (October 14th, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder opened their home schedule with a Friday night battle against Augustana Vikings. The game moved quickly with few timeouts, and we saw Thunder coming close in every set, despite the 3-0 sweep.
An exciting atmosphere in the Concordia gym for the Friday night game as the Thunder opened their season. Both teams played aggressively and took risks for several blocks and spikes. The Vikings took the first set 25-18 to start. We saw the Vikings gain some confidence after their first set win and pushed it to a 25-13 win for the second set. In the 3rd set we saw Thunder come back to life and push to continue the game, but the Vikings won the set 25-19.
The One Team Sport players of the game were #10 Emily Peterson for the Vikings and #13 Kara McIntyre from the Thunder. The Thunder will return home on November 4th to take on the Briercrest Clippers.
