Eagles Soar through Thunder Storm

EDMONTON, AB (November 26, 2022) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder closed out their home schedule for the fall against the Kings' Eagles in a battle of Edmonton. Thunder struggled to find their footing in the beginning but pushed back hard in the third set. It was almost enough to bring it to a 4^th, but ultimately the Eagles came out on top winning 3-0.  

The first set started back and forth. The Thunder and Eagles constantly tied or up one for the first 11 points scored in the game. The Eagles find their wings and start a barrage of hits to go up 12 late in the set and take it 25-13. In the second set, we saw the Eagles take an early lead. The Eagles fight hard and gain another late 15-point lead to win the set 25-12 and up 2-0. Throughout the third set, the Thunder fought hard and had the lead often. Most of the time a two or three-point lead. Nearing the end, the Eagles find their footing and stole the win, ending the final set 25-23 and the game 3-0.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #9 Samantha Lieuwen from the Eagles, with 12 kills and 16 digs. From the Thunder, #7 Emma Thompson with 8 kills and 4 digs.

Tonight's game concludes Thunder's home schedule for the fall semester. We return back from the break on January 13^th against the Red Deer Queens for the first game of the new year.
