An Exciting Game but Tough Loss for Thunder

EDMONTON, AB (February 4th, 2023) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder took on the Lakeland Rustlers for game two of the weekend. After Friday's game, Thunder was hungry for a comeback, and they fought for it. Despite their strong effort in tonight's game with the first two sets coming close, they weren't able to bring down the leaders of the women's north division. Rustlers will finish off the weekend with a clean sweep, 3-0.

Thunder came into the game with high energy, and lead the majority of the set. Rustlers fought through and kept it even with the points going back and forth making key plays when it counted most. The first set went to Lakeland 27-25. The second set was just as evenly matched. They kept each other on their toes with some fantastic digs, kills, and well-read plays. Similar to the first set, Rustlers were able to push for those final points and took set two, 25-22. In the third set, the Rustlers found their rhythm and were able to create a wide lead. The Thunder worked to heighten their momentum, but the Rustlers keep the intensity and win the third and final set 25-16.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #7 Avery Bates from the Rustlers, with 17 kills and 6 digs in the game. From the Thunder, #7 Emma Thompson with 7 kills and 2 digs. The next and final home game for the Concordia Thunder will be next Saturday, February 11th, against the SAIT Trojans at 6 PM.
