Kodiaks Win in a Battle to the Wire

EDMONTON, AB (November 19, 2022) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the Lethbridge Kodiaks in a Saturday afternoon clash. A back-and-forth affair, but Kodiaks come out on top 82-77.

In the first quarter, we saw the Thunder come out slow. The Lethbridge Kodiaks had great shot selection and gained a 10-point lead, but Thunder fight back finishing the first 15-19 for Lethbridge. The second quarter was more even matched. The Thunder started landing threes and the Kodiaks kept doing their work, the Kodiaks regain the 10-point lead heading into the half 39-29. After the break, CUE came thundering back, tying it 3 times, and even taking a 2-point lead. Near the end the Kodiaks did a run of their own to come out on top 63-55. In the fourth quarter, Thunder continued fighting for the game, bringing it within one early on. A back-and-forth battle had both teams working hard with nail-biting conclusions. Ultimately, the Kodiaks hold off the Thunder 82-77.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #12 Paycen Blackmore leading his team offensively with 19 points, and #7 Yaadvir Dhaliwal dominating offensively for the Thunder and earning an outstanding 34 points.  

Thunder will look to regroup and push forward for the final weekend of the fall semester against the King's University Eagles, November 25th and 26th with the home game on Friday night.
