Trojans take Charge in the Fourth

EDMONTON, AB (February 10th, 2023) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the SAIT Trojans for their final battle on home court this season. Tonight, we honored graduating athlete, #11 Carsten Ritter, who played his final game here at RKAC. Both teams came out strong tonight, we saw tons of back-and-forth action and the game was in anyone's hands for the majority of the night. It stayed neck and neck all the way up until the fourth quarter, but the Trojans fought for the lead and came out on top, 95-80.

In the first quarter, we saw some beautiful shots made on each side. Trojans came out storming, but Thunder found their footing quickly and kept things even throughout the quarter. The first ended 23-22 for CUE. The Thunder started to roll midway through the second quarter hitting back to back to back threes. The Trojans managed to work their way inside but, the Thunder held onto the lead at halftime. 46-42. In the third quarter, both teams started off slow. SAIT found their stride and gained an eight-point lead. Thunder kept their heads in the game and continued to fight back. At the end of the third, we were sitting at a tie, 71-71. In the fourth quarter, the Trojans played aggressively and were able to get past Thunder defense. On the other side, CUE was having a tough time hitting the basket, and gave up some key opportunities to SAIT. Trojans continued to roll through the fourth and gained a comfortable lead, finishing the game 95-80.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #7 Marc Denault-Gabriel from the Trojans, with 28 points in the game. From the Thunder, #11 Carsten Ritter, a key player in tonight's game and in the Thunder lineup. Carsten will be missed here on home turf, and we wish him all the best in his future. Tonight, marked the final home game of the regular season but CUE will head to St. Mary's University for tomorrow night's game, February 11th at 8 PM.
