Hard-Fought Contest: Thunder fall short against Huskies in Overtime

Hard-Fought Contest: Thunder fall short against Huskies in Overtime

(EDMONTON, AB) In a thrilling basketball game at Ralph King Athletic Center, Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) faced a formidable Keyano College Huskies team. Despite their best efforts, Concordia fell short in overtime with a final score of 89-77.

A true back and forth contest, the match began with Concordia getting off to a nice start, gaining a lead by the end of the first quarter. However, Keyano College mounted a strong offensive response, taking the lead by the end of the second quarter. Concordia continued to fight back thanks to standout performances from #7 Yaadvir Dhaliwal, who contributed 16 points and displayed sharp shooting from beyond the arc and #9 Jaxon Kolesar-Lafaut who shot 6-6 and added 13 points of his own. An exceptional effort led to the Thunder scoring to tie the game 73-73 in the final seconds of the 4th quarter, thanks to #12 Milton Lendein. In overtime, both teams battled fiercely, but the Huskies managed to maintain their composure, securing the victory.

Head Coach Reagan Wood had this to say on the intense game: "We battled tonight, forced a tough team to OT but came up on the wrong end of the score. Heading into it short handed, we knew we were going to need some guys to step up and do more and they did, but just came up a bit short. Proud of the effort, we'll regroup and be ready for the rematch tomorrow."

The Thunder will be right back at Ralph King Athletic Center tomorrow as they take on the Huskies once again at 3:00pm.

Here were tonight's One Team Sport Players of the Game, presented by Co-operators:
