The Thunder brought the storm – but Clippers fight through it

EDMONTON, AB (November 4th, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the Friday night game against the Briercrest Clippers. A game you couldn't take your eyes off of, both teams playing with high energy, and despite the strong effort by the Thunder, the Clippers walk away with the win 3-1.

The first set was back and forth with at least 6 lead changes and 12 ties with a variety of plays and many blocks, the Clippers find the first set theirs 26-24. In the second set, we saw Thunder doing everything right finding a seven-point lead and reaching 20 points. The Clippers fight their way back 23-20. Despite the late set rally by the Clippers, the Thunder battled back and took the set 25-22, tying things up 1-1. The third set had runs for both teams, starting with the Clippers finding a four-point lead. Following that Thunder came storming back for a four-point lead of themselves. Ultimately the Clippers grab four consecutive points to end the set 25-23. In the fourth set we saw high energy on both sides, with the Clippers in control for the most part. Briercrest held off Concordia to take the last set and the game 25-22, and the final scoring being 3-1.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #11 Karym Coleman for the Clippers with 19 kills in the game and #5 Wyatt Turnbull from the Thunder with equal amounts of offensive and defensive points. (13-13). The Thunder will take on the Medicine Hat Rattlers tomorrow afternoon for their second battle on home turf.
