Kings Take the Victory in 3

Kings Take the Victory in 3

EDMONTON, AB (January 13th, 2023) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder opened up the Winter semester against the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings. Each team created some great opportunities and plays, but we also saw small mistakes throughout the three sets that kept the game fairly even. RDP didn't let up, and they continued to push back sweeping the Thunder 3-0.

In the first set, we saw both teams start out aggressively with some powerful kills. The Kings took the first set 25-20. The second set progressed in a similar fashion, with each team looking to find the other's weak spot. The Kings established a lead early on and Thunder was unable to overcome it. RDP took the second set 25-19, leading 2-0. In the third set, RDP gained their rhythm while the Thunder was low on energy. They took the third 25-12 and secured the victory 3-0.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #4 Maddux Graves from the Kings, with 25 assists in the night. From the Thunder, #16 Rhees Moss showed a ton of grit and gained 20 assists in the game.

It was an exciting battle here at Concordia. Tonight's game was dedicated to the Make Some Noise for Mental Health Campaign. With the amazing support from the crowd and the booming atmosphere, CUE was the place to be. The next home game for the Thunder will take place January 20th against the Keyano Huskies.
