Game On: Men's Volleyball Home Opener - Concordia vs. Lakeland

(EDMONTON, AB) For the first game of the season, the Concordia Thunder (CUE) hosted the Lakeland College Rustlers at the Ralph King Athletic Centre. In a thrilling home opener for the Concordia Thunder, the stage was set for a fierce battle against the Lakeland Rustlers. Although the Rustlers secured a win, the Thunder exhibited remarkable resilience and a promising outlook for the season ahead.

Both teams delivered standout performances throughout the game. The Lakeland Rustlers clinched the victory with scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-22. Keifer Sinclair orchestrated the Rustlers' efficient offense with 22 assists, while Brock Tomyn's serving and Declan Mercer's kills were notable highlights. For the Concordia Thunder, Alexi Dufour, Kurt Niehoff, and Van Tooke demonstrated remarkable teamwork, with notable kills and digs. Thunder rookie, Brodie Wight's all-around performance, including impressive digs, stood out.

Tonight's One Team Sport Players of the game were #12 Vaughn Zimmer for the Rustlers and #5 Brodie Wight for the Thunder. Looking ahead, the Concordia Thunder's next challenge awaits as they face the NAIT Ooks on Saturday October 21st at 3:00pm on home court.
