The Huskies edge the Thunder in a hard fought battle

The Huskies edge the Thunder in a hard fought battle

EDMONTON AB – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder and the Keyano Huskies went head-to-head to battle for a playoff spot. The Huskies walked away victorious, but the Thunder will have a chance at redemption tomorrow, once again on the Thunder's turf. The final score was 53-47.

The games later in the season always seem a little more intense, and this one was no exception. The first quarter ended 13-12 for the Huskies. The second quarter was a game of defence for the Huskies, holding the Thunder to only 7 points, while draining 14 of their own.  The 3rd and 4th quarter were close matched, with a last minute push by the Thunder to cut the deficit, but it was too little too late, as they just couldn't capitalize on rebounds and Huskie turnovers.

The Thunder and the Huskies will face off again tomorrow to complete their weekend series. The Thunder need a win to stay in the playoff hunt. The Big Kahuna Player of the Game for the visiting Huskies was #23 Moiyan Toure and for the Thunder was #9 Ann Ulmer.
