Thunder Close out their Home Season Strong

Thunder Close out their Home Season Strong

EDMONTON, AB (February 10th, 2023) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the SAIT Trojans for a Friday night battle, marking the final home game of the regular season. Tonight, we celebrated two graduating athletes and outstanding players, Kaelyn Bryks #9 and Madison Murdoch #12. This was an exciting matchup; the game was fast-paced, and Thunder played with passion. Trojans pushed back hard but Thunder was on top of their game tonight and fought for the win ending the game 72-78.

In the first quarter, both teams came out of the gate aggressively. The pace was fast right off the hop and we knew we were in for a great game. CUE was able to maintain a slight lead and finish the quarter 21-17. In the second quarter, Thunder kept their foot on the gas. They played strong defensively and took away a lot of opportunities for the Trojans. With their cohesive team effort, they took control in the second and pushed the lead up by 18 points, sitting 42-24 at the half. In the third quarter, we saw the Trojans fight their way back into the game with lockdown defense and some quick hands for steals. This quarter was a lot more evenly matched but Thunder maintains the lead, 57-37. In the fourth quarter, the Thunder brought back the first-half intensity and gained a wide lead, with fastbreak points and threes falling everywhere. They finish the win, 72-48, led by the graduating seniors, Kaelyn Bryks and Madison Murdoch.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #7 Macy Mulholland from the Trojans, with 5 points and 2 rebounds in the game. It came as no surprise for the Thunder, #9 Kaelyn Bryks, and #12 Madison Murdoch. Tonight, was the final home game of the 2022-2023 season for the Thunder. An incredible team performance this year, and we will miss #9 and #12. Thunder has two games left in the regular season, their next game is at St. Mary's University, on February 11th, at 6 and 8 PM.
