Thunder open season with a boom

Thunder open season with a boom

EDMONTON, AB (October 28th, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder opened their home schedule in a Friday night battle against the NWP Wolves. Despite the gap on the scoreboard, the Wolves put up a strong fight for the Thunder.

The start was slow with both teams figuring out their footing. With Concordia finding their way inside and outrebounding in the first half, they found a significant lead early on. Despite the Wolves finding their way to the line much more than the Thunder, the score was 46-17 heading into halftime.

The Wolves had a strong third quarter to attempt to come back into the game ending the quarter 60-30. Neither team had their outside scoring going for them, but the Concordia Thunder take a win for their first game of the season. The score was 80-41 with most of the points coming from inside the paint.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #5 Makayla Porteous with 11 points in the night for the Wolves and #10 Kourtney Oss who lead with 24 points from the Thunder. NWP returns back to Concordia tomorrow afternoon to take on the Thunder for game two of the weekend.
