Thunder lose nail-biter to Huskies

Thunder lose nail-biter to Huskies

EDMONTON, AB – In Saturday matinee action, the Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder welcomed the visiting Keyano Huskies. The Huskies jumped out to an early lead, but the Thunder fought back in the second half to turn this into a nail biter. The Huskies, however, were able to sneak away in this one as they downed the Thunder 65-64 to sweep the weekend series.

The Huskies came out of the gate firing, outscoring the Thunder 19-11 in the first quarter, and maintained the momentum as they took a 38-28 lead into the half. The second half saw the Thunder fight back into the game and tie the game late in the third quarter. The Huskies regained their lead in the fourth quarter, but the Thunder again clawed their way back into it to make it a one-point game in the last minute. However, the Huskies hung onto this one, taking the game by one point 65-64.

This game wraps up the weekend series between the Thunder and Huskies. The Thunder head on the road next weekend, but return to action at home November 16.

The Kahunaverse Players of the Game were #5 Gytonne Everett for the Keyano Huskies and #9 Ann Ulmer for the Thunder.
