When Thunder Meets Lightning: St. Mary's Prevails in Intense Basketball Showdown

(EDMONTON, AB) In an intense basketball battle, the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder Women's Basketball team took on the St. Mary's Lightning. This game held special significance as it marked the ninth annual "Make Some Noise for Mental Health" campaign sponsored by RBC. While the final score favored St. Mary's, the true victory was the collective effort in supporting mental health awareness.

The Thunder started strong, taking the lead in the first half (19-18), but St. Mary's came back with a dominant third quarter, outscoring the Thunder 21-8. Despite a late rally from Concordia, St. Mary's maintained their lead to secure the win.

Notable performances included Ivet Hidalgo from St. Mary's, who had a remarkable game with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist. Andria Stitt also shone, contributing a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. For Concordia, Jaycee May exhibited versatility throughout the game. Her exceptional performance included 12 rebounds, 6 points, and 5 assists. May's incredible court vision and ability to contribute on both ends of the floor were instrumental in keeping the Thunder competitive throughout the match.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Thunder will head south to go up against the SAIT Trojans. They will return home on November 17th against the Red Deer Queens at 6 PM, here at the Ralph King. After this game, their current record stands at 2-5. for the season.
