Thunder Rolls: Concordia Women's Basketball Storms Past Medicine Hat College

(EDMONTON, AB) Kicking off the final home weekend of the regular season for basketball, the Concordia Thunder Women's Basketball team secured a resounding 68-46 victory over the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. From the opening tip-off to the final buzzer, the Thunder exhibited dominance on both ends of the court, continuing to solidify their position in the ACAC playoffs.

Leading the charge for the Thunder was Rachel Harvey, who showcased her scoring prowess with 14 points and stellar defensive contributions with 10 rebounds. Jenna Rinsky added a team leading 15 points, shooting 4-7 from beyond the arc, while Chloe DeKlerk's all-around performance, including 14 points and eight steals, proved crucial in securing the win.

The Thunder set the tone early, matching the Rattlers basket for basket in the first quarter to end it tied at 14 points each. However, Concordia's relentless offensive pressure and suffocating defense allowed them to pull away in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a 34-24 lead.

Despite a brief surge from the Rattlers in the third quarter, the Thunder remained composed, responding by limiting them to only 11 points in the quarter. In the final quarter, Concordia's continued to put on the pressure, as they outscored their opponents 22-11 to secure the decisive victory.

The Concordia Thunder Women's Basketball team looks ahead to their next home matchup tomorrow against Briercrest College at 1:00pm. With this victory tonight, the Thunder maintain a 9-8 record for the season, currently holding third place in the ACAC North Division.
