Bio

Robbie Valpreda is the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball Program at Concordia University of Edmonton. Coach Valpreda has been with Women’s Program for the last eight years and during his time has amassed an 82-83 win/loss record and was named ACAC Women’s Basketball North Coach of the year in 2016-17 season. Coach Valpreda has also helped guide and develop a number of his student-athletes to be ACAC all conference players and CCAA Academic All-Canadians.

Coach Valpreda has a passion and love for the game and competition - he always expects his players to work hard on the floor and in the classroom. He preaches to his team that accountability, leadership, and discipline are the three main contributions to a strong foundation and successful career as a student-athlete in his program. To hold that foundation and belief together we always have the control of two things, our attitude and our effort.

His playing career includes experience at both the ACAC and U-Sport levels. At Macewan, he led his team to two ACAC Championships and silver and bronze medals at the CCAA national level. He was an ACAC All-Conference player three times, as well as a CCAA All-Canadian and national Player of the Year. As a member of the Alberta Golden Bears Men’s Basketball team from 2001-03, Coach Valpreda won Canada West MVP, was an U-Sports All-Canadian and won a National Championship in 2001-02.

Coach Valpreda has spent time as a coach in the Edmonton Metro High School league, ACAC Conference, U-Sports and two years (2010-12) with the semi-professional Edmonton Energy. When Coach Valpreda isn’t in the gym coaching, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two children Grace & Henry, and their dog, Frank.
