Thunder Soccer had another road trip this weekend, this time to Lakeland College to take on the Rustlers on Sunday.
Sunday brought another win for the national ranked women’s team, as the Thunder beat the Rustlers 3-2. The Thunder got out to a quick 2-0 lead, with a goal scored by Isabella Amico in the second minute, and Vanessa Pietramala in the eleventh minute. The Rustlers came charging back scoring two goals of their own to make it 2-2 early in the second half. Emma Ward came up big for the Thunder scoring the go ahead goal in the sixty third minute and the girls held on to secure the victory. For Thunder men’s soccer it was a tough 3-0 loss to the Rustlers. Lakeland got out to a 2-0 lead by the end of the first half and scored a final goal to make it 3-0. CUE Goalkeeper Isaiah Maluta stopped 8 shots on goal, doing his best to keep the game close.
After the weekend, Thunder women’s soccer sits at 6-0 on the season, undefeated, and in first place in the North Division. Men’s soccer is now at 2-3-1, good for a tie with King’s University for 4th place in the ACAC North Division. Thunder soccer plays twice this week at home and once on the road. They’ll face the Portage College Voyageurs on Wednesday at Strathcona Athletic Park, travel to Portage to play the Voyageurs again on Saturday, and end their week at home against the NAIT Ooks on Sunday.
