Thunder Defends their Title

Thunder Defends their Title

EDMONTON, AB (November 19, 2022) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the Lethbridge Kodiaks at the Ralph King Athletics Centre for a Saturday afternoon matchup. The Thunder looked to defend their title and beat the Kodiaks 79-58.

In the first quarter, the Thunder came out strong, mostly making moves in the paint and are up 26-11. In the second quarter, we saw Kourtney Oss continue taking rebounds left right and center. With a 15-point lead, Thunder are up 43-29 heading into halftime. Heading into the 3rd quarter, the Kodiaks muscle back and were scoring in a variety of ways, but unable to even things out. CUE continues onto the 4th quarter with a healthy lead sitting at 62-40. In the final quarter, both teams were fighting hard. We saw a much more even match but it wasn't enough for the Kodiaks. The Thunder take the game 79-58. Head Coach Robbie Valpreda said "We held them defensively to 58 points, playing this way defensively has been a staple all year. Kourtney Oss was a beast today. We are humbled by the win and are hoping to finish the fall semester off strong."

The One Team Sport players of the game were #9 Courtney Deemter from the Kodiaks, leading her team offensively earning 18 points. From the Thunder, #10 Kourtney Oss with 17 rebounds and a total of 20 points.

Concordia will finish off the fall semester next weekend against the Kings University Eagles. They play at home on Friday night at 6PM and hope to continue their win streak of 7-0-0.
