EDMONTON, AB – The Thunder Athletics Department is excited to announce Gadeer Sobh as the new Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer program. Sobh brings extensive experience as a head coach and player at the post secondary level to Concordia.
Sobh’s experience as a player comes from Ontario, where she played as a midfielder for the Eastside Kickers Soccer program from 1999-2008. She then moved on to play for the University of Windsor Lancers soccer team from 2009-2012.
Her previous coaching experience is highlighted by being an assistant coach for the Windsor Lancers Women’s Soccer team (OUA) during the 2012-13 season, as well as working with the St. Clair College Women’s Soccer program (OCAA) as head coach from 2013 to 2022. With over a decade of experience in the Women’s Soccer coaching scene, Gadeer is eager to take on the new challenge with CUE.
“I am extremely excited for this opportunity to be a part of the Thunder family”, Sobh added. “I’m looking forward to taking this program to the next level so these athletes can win a national championship”.
Coach Sobh will now take the reins of a nationally ranked women’s soccer program who are coming off a 11-0-1 record last season and a bronze medal at the 2023 ACAC Women’s Soccer Championships. With many returning players, look for this group to continue their winning ways during the 2024-25 season.
