An Even Matched Battle Ends in an Overtime Tie

An Even Matched Battle Ends in an Overtime Tie

EDMONTON, AB (November 19, 2022) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder took on the Augustana Vikings at the Clareview Arena for a Saturday night battle. Both teams took the lead at various points of the game, but neither was able to break through in overtime.

In the first period, the Thunder come out strong and get themselves on the board with 2 quick goals. #7 Keegan Tiringer firing on all cylinders, finding himself a goal and an assist to #16 Hunter Leslie in the first 3 minutes. A high-intensity first period ends 2-1 for the Thunder. In the second period, Vikings' #7 Jacob Biensch converts on a power play and ties the game early. Lots of back-and-forth action on both sides proving each team as an equal contender and keeping it 3-3 to end the 2nd. Heading into the third the Thunder start off hot with lots of offensive pressure in the zone. The score is 4-3 for the majority of the period but Vikings' #26 Tanner Manz puts one in the back of the net with less than 5 minutes remaining and we headed into overtime. Thunder carried on with strong offensive pressure, but the Vikings' goalie is a brick wall in OT saving 14 shots and keeping the game a tie.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #7 Jacob Biensch from the Vikings with 2 points in the night, a goal in the 2nd to tie things up and an assist on the first. From the Thunder, #7 Keegan Tiringer, who stormed out of the gates and gave the Thunder their early lead.

Two games left until the break, Concordia will take on the Red Deer Kings next weekend - November 25 and 26th. Thunder are back home for the Saturday night battle against the Kings at 7PM.
