Trojans take Saturday Night Matchup against the Thunder

EDMONTON, AB (February 4th, 2023) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder hosted the SAIT Trojans for game two of the weekend series. Thunder looked to even things out after the Friday night game in Calgary. Each team played aggressively with things heated up as the game went on. Trojans were able to capitalize on some key opportunities and ultimately won the game 4-2.

The first period started off fairly timid, but the pace picked up and SAIT opened up the scoring with 7 minutes remaining in the first. A quick response from the Thunder, #27 Tyler Schendel scores a beautiful goal short-handed to even things out. The second period started off with high intensity and back-and-forth action. Thunder dominate puck possession and hold strong in the offensive zone, but #7 Carson Welke from the Trojans found a lane and regained their lead 2-1. Heading into the third, the Trojans apply early pressure with #15 Tanner Sidaway and #7 Carson Welke able to add another 2 goals to the board. Thunder continued to battle back with team captain #8 Brandon Wallis scoring at the 6-minute mark. The game rises in physicality throughout but Thunder ran out of time to even things out.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #7 Carson Welke with 2 goals in the game and #8 Brandon Wallis with a goal for the Thunder. The next home game for the Thunder takes place February 11th against the Portage Voyageurs, at the Clareview Rec Centre at 7PM.
