Thunder Stands their Ground Against the Kings

Thunder Stands their Ground Against the Kings

EDMONTON, AB (November 26, 2022) - Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder took on the Red Deer Kings at the Clareview Arena for a Saturday night battle. After a 4-1 loss in Red Deer Friday evening, Thunder came storming back to secure a 3-0 win. CUE goalkeeper #31 Eric Ward was a brick wall tonight, making key saves and ensuring the win for his team.

In the first period, Thunder comes out storming and #3 Nick Dobson puts one in the net at 16:24 to give them a 1-0 lead. They maintain the one-goal advantage moving into the 2nd. In the second period, Thunder continues to hold the Kings off defensively and find themselves mostly in the offensive zone. CUE looks to widen the gap and #10 Griffin Ryden scores with 5 minutes left in the second. In the third period, we didn't see too much action in the zones but a lot of back and forth in the neutral zone. Thunder was able to maintain their lead and #4 Xavier Parenteau scored on the empty net to seal the deal. CUE takes the win and finishes the game 3-0.

The One Team Sport players of the game were #24 Brennan Davis from the Kings and #4 Xavier Parenteau from the Thunder. Tonight's game marks the end of the fall stretch and we will continue on this exciting season in the new year. The next games for your Concordia Thunder are on the 13-14th of January when Thunder will make their way to Briercrest for their first weekend battle of the winter semester. They return home against the NAIT Ooks on January 20th at Clareview Arena.
