Concordia's Commanding Performance: A 6-3 Win Over Portage College

EDMONTON, AB (November 17, 2023) - In an action-packed showdown at Clareview Rec Center, Concordia Thunder secured a convincing victory over the Portage Voyageurs, ending the game with a score of 6-3.

The game began with a goal from each team in the first period. #13 Rylan Nivon put Concordia on the board at 3:18, assisted by #19 Zachery Carlson. Portage answered back just before the period ended, with #16 Mikal Chalifoux finding the net at 19:54.

The Thunder dominated the second period with an impressive offensive display. #23 Zachary Cunningham, #10 Griffen Ryden, and #19 Zachery Carlson added three goals, showcasing their team's scoring prowess. Griffen Ryden's goal came unassisted at 9:08, contributing significantly to the team's momentum.

The third period saw continued action as both teams pushed hard. Zachery Carlson added another goal for Concordia at 2:12, securing his team's lead. Despite efforts from Portage College, including goals from #27 Payton McDonald-Corea and #17 Karsten Gorrill, Concordia maintained their advantage. Griffen Ryden sealed the game with a power-play goal at 15:51, ensuring the Thunder victory.

The Concordia Thunder displayed exceptional offensive strength, securing a well-deserved 6-3 win against Portage College in a thrilling match. Following this win, Concordia looks ahead to their final games of the fall semester with a strengthened position. They will battle for the second time this weekend tomorrow on Voyageurs turf and will finish the first half of the season against the SAIT Trojans, on November 24th and 25th.
